Our Mission

Clara’s House is an organization that supplies homeless pregnant girls/women with safe caring homes to reside in during their pregnancies and up to 6 months after they give birth.  Women live in family home settings and will learn skills toward independent living, such as budgeting, cooking, securing a job, baby care, and much more.  We also address other issues, such as emotional, social, spiritual and educational needs.

There are many reasons why women find themselves in unplanned pregnancies, and often times they are not prepared for motherhood, whether for reasons of family difficulties, emotional instability, lack of finances or age.  They are faced with a crisis decision whether to continue with their pregnancy.   Some do not have a supportive family environment, and a pregnancy could even find themselves homeless.  Many will seek help and advice from a nearby crisis pregnancy center.  The center can offer very helpful and caring advice, but they do not have the resources to offer housing to the girls/women.  Clara’s House would meet this vital need.

Each pregnant woman completes an individual plan with the houseparent family according to her specific needs.  We promise…

  • available care 24 hours a day.

  • provide a safe, clean home free from alcohol, drugs, smoke and violence.

  • nutritional meals

  • transportation for medical needs

  • assistance in receiving life skill and parenting classes.

  • moral and spiritual support.
